Robert "Bob" Clark

This marks the passing of Robert Harrington “Bob” Clark. He worked hard. He played hard. He lived his life filled with a passionate determination to make the world a more orderly and better place. Both markers of the true Marine that he was. Bob was born in Augusta, Maine on August 8, 1934 and left the world on November 9, 2016 while residing in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. He lived many places throughout his life, but raised his family in Darien, Connecticut, retired to Stuart, Florida, and spent every summer at his home in Boothbay Harbor. Outside of his lifelong career with Procter and Gamble, Bob spent countless hours being an organizer of the finest kind for his family. During the 70s, he brought the Noroton Manor neighborhood together with an annual Christmas carol sing. He volunteered for many years for the Darien Junior Football League. He was the Chief of All Nations for the YMCA Indian Guides. There are so many places where Bob donated his time and energy to make the world a better place for others. Bob Clark was an avid boater. As the captain of Mother and many other vessels, he enjoyed pulling lobster traps, serving as the committee boat for the whaleboat Middlesex, and cruising with a cocktail on Long Island Sound and around Coastal Maine. Bob loved his time golfing at Willoughby Golf Club, carving beautiful duck decoys, playing the gutbucket and the banjo, drinking bourbon Manhattans, rooting for Notre Dame football, and singing with the University Glee Club of New York City - not necessarily in that order. He was a loving husband to Glenna for over 56 years - a devoted father to Deb (Clark) Holden, Rob Clark, and Betsy (Clark) Balmat - a supportive father-in-law to Kevin Holden, Vicki Clark, and Dan Balmat - and a caring grandfather to R.H., Evan, Julia, Tommy, Nick, and Michael. Bob Clark will be missed by all who knew him. Missed for his wit and song. Missed for his love and loyalty. A celebration of his life will be held in Boothbay next summer but until then, raise a glass and sing a song in his honor.

My condolences go out to the family. I am so sorry too hear of the lost of a dear loved one to this family. Dealing with this situation can be the hardest thing to face. God's word the bible gives heartfelt and true meaning for ones sleeping in death; Revelation 21: 3,4 says: 3 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” God also promises a hope for ones to have life again at John 5: 28,29a : Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out. We are so very sad to hear this news. Bob was such an enjoyable personality. It brings a smile to my face thinking of Bob commanding the parking at the BHYC Junior regattas. He will be missed by many. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
