Ben passed away on July 29, 2024 at the age of 44 leaving behind a legacy of excellence and inspiration. From a young age, Ben displayed exceptional talent and determination as an athlete. As a teenager, he was an All-American running back for Texas for the Southwestern Belle, showcasing his remarkable speed and agility. He also made a name for himself by breaking summer track records, earning him accolades and admiration from his peers. After a successful high school career at Spring High School, Benjamin went on to attend Baylor University, where he continued to shine as a football player. His skills as a running back caught the attention of many, and he quickly became a beloved member of the Baylor community. Ben was the beloved son of Benjamin Gay Sr and Georgia Gay and a cherished sibling to his brother Rodley Johnson and sisters Kathy Gay, Lola Smith, Stacey Butler, and Benika Gay. His family was his rock and their unwavering support meant the world to him. In addition to his family, Ben leaves behind his loving wife Margarita Gay. Ben also leaves children Jeremy, Makayla, Justice, Ben, and Breanna, who were the light of his life. Along with many others who were dear to his heart. Upon being a student at Baylor was drafted into the NFL, where he continued to impress with his exceptional talent and work ethic. He became known for his electrifying performances on the field and his dedication to the game, earning the respect and admiration of fans and teammates alike. Off the field, Ben was a kind and humble soul who used his platform to inspire others and give back to his community, friends and family. He will be remembered not only for his athletic prowess but also for his generosity and compassion towards others. And that legend smile. Ben will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever be cherished, and his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were touched by his presence.
