Ben Powell

So glad to have known Ben and shared his humour on and off the pitch. Enjoyed after match socials with him many times and many good times on tour. I know that football and Stonewall FC was big part of his life and that he is already very missed. My sympathies to James, his husband and to both of their families.

King of dry wit at Stonewall Football Club. You knew to standby within hearing distance and just wait for that slow burn zinger. Missed. Tip Top bloke.

Deepest sympathy to you James and your families at this very difficult time, Ben was a brave man and we all are here for you, We celebrate him as a great player and committed team member. I remember him well on tour in Cologne a fantastic guy who was always very dry in his humour. Rest in peace Ben

So sad to hear about Ben, a committed and loyal member of the Stonewall Family. Ben loved his football and playing for the club and his lovely dry sense of humour will be much missed. Thoughts are with family and loved ones. He was a true club man.

I was devastated to hear the news about Ben. As a person he was the nicest guy you could wish to meet, always witty and self-deprecating and I enjoyed getting to know him on tour in Argentina. He was so committed to the Stonewall FC 3rd team on and off the pitch as a player and a manager and his loyalty to our club was long-standing. It was wonderful to see him at Wembley last November cheering us on. The world is a less jovial place and all my thoughts and prayers are with his family and his beloved James. The pair of them fought Ben’s illness with such bravery whilst maintaining typical humour. Rest in peace x x x

A fantastic guy with a sharp sense of humour. Seemed very relaxed about life in general including his illness. He never took anything too seriously, which is a great lesson for us all. Till we meet again Ben xx
