To the Family of Late Arch Bishop Óbong C.T. Udo OʻBONG C.T. UDO, anam esie amma. A man of few words with distinguished reputation of positive outcomes. My last conversation with him was at Ikot Ekpene in February 2023. I recalled his words: Do not wait to be acknowledged by your people. Jesus Christ was example of progeny resentment. I can't feed every house with material wealth. Sure, I have indirectly impacted lives in the community. Whatever you can, do it as directed by your capability and the Holy spirit. Leave the naysayers to play politics of irrelevance . Love your people. A man of principle and substance. Always fought for what he believed to be right and just: in the family, village, Clan, local government, state, and the Chief of staff to the Government of now Senate President under his governorship, and Arch Bishop of a religious group. In a singular life, Ôbong C.T. did represent Okon Clan with reputation while in various services. He left behind a functional family whose progenies are envious of many because of their positions in the society. Òbong C.T in transitioning to another life, did plan a travel of joy for the family, although, the pains of his external absence thereafter, deserves God intervention in condoling the family. A Tribute to Obong Bishop Cornel Udoh My beloved father-in-law, Obong Bishop Cornel Udoh, Departed the scene when it was least expected. He was still vibrant, still strong — full of wisdom and vigor, Yet, as mortals, we bow to the quiet call of eternity. From him, I learnt the sacred art of discipline, The heart of politics guided by truth, The fear of God that shapes a noble man, Humility, honesty, and the grace of being human. Each visit to him was a lesson, each conversation a sermon — History came alive in his voice, telling me always about his roots and even his dreams, seeing his beloved mum who'd long departed. Faith found a teacher in his words, And politics took on the face of conscience with him. He will be dearly missed — A light has been dimmed, but not extinguished, For his memory still walks among us, In every story, every laughter, every prayer he once led. Though our hearts are heavy, The hope of resurrection whispers peace and hope. May God, in His tender mercy, Grant the family — near and extended — Strength to bear this loss, And grace to live by the virtues he so gracefully taught.
