Andrew Strong

The news of Andy’s passing was truly shocking. He’ll be remembered for his kindness. In the 8years I knew him, Andy was more of a mentor than a colleague. My sincere condolences to his family, and I pray God grants them peace in the comfort.

I am very, very sorry to hear of Andy's passing. He was a valued colleague with formidable energy and enthusiasm. You have my sincere sympathy.

I feel privileged to have known Andy and also count him as a true friend. You couldn’t wish for anyone to be more supportive and helpful. His energy was boundless and he will very much missed. My sincere condolences to all his family.

I have met Andy through the Quantum Technology programme in the UK. The most recent was this January. I am so sorry to hear about him passing away. I can't still quite grasp it. My thoughts are with his family and I hope that you have the support you need now.

Andy put his family and living life at the centre and worked around that. He infused vitality, positivity, and enthusiasm into everything he did-there were no half measures. His straightforwardness was refreshing, he did not tolerate foolish talk or bullshit. He knew what to take seriously and what to laugh at. His wonderful (dare I say wicked?) sense of humour meant he laughed at himself as easily as he laughed at often simple things he found amusing or ridiculous. Well respected and well known for his work and contribution to the field of optics and new technology, he was pragmatic and passionate about what could be achieved, and was imbued with an intuitive ‘road map’. It is shocking and unbelievable that such a vital force should be taken from us so early. My thoughts are with his family, around whom his world turned. Please accept my sincere condolences.
