Sixty-odd days have passed before I could find the words for this tribute—to a gentle, loving, and caring guide, a shepherd in every sense. "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants." – Psalm 116:15 We gather today with heavy hearts, yet also with deep gratitude, to honor the life and legacy of Rev. Alexander Nii Anang — a man of unwavering faith, boundless compassion, and genuine fatherly love. To know Rev. Alex was to witness a life wholly devoted to God and to people. He was more than a spiritual leader; he was a counselor, a mentor, a guide, and for many of us, a father in every sense of the word. His wisdom was gentle yet firm, his presence steady and comforting, and his counsel always grounded in Scripture, truth, and grace. My first encounter with Rev. Alex was on 16th August 2015, just two days after arriving in Tarkwa for a “relieving” duty at SIC Insurance Plc. On 15th August, I searched for the nearest Lighthouse Chapel, and there he was — welcoming me personally. His hospitality was extraordinary: he went with me after service to see my residence and offered a heartfelt prayer- that I would be established in Tarkwa. I still remember his words: “May you find what you are looking for in Tarkwa, May you be established.” One moment that will forever remain with me was on 26th December 2015, when Rev. Alex called me unexpectedly and said, “Ken, I want you to spend Christmas in Tarkwa.” I was surprised, but I heeded his request. That Christmas turned out to be one of deep conversations, sound counsel, and meaningful fellowship — it was the beginning of something special. In fact, it was during that season that I received the inspiration and guidance to start a business in Tarkwa. Thank you, Rev. Alex. Fast forward to February 2016 — my short stay in Tarkwa was ending. I informed Rev. Alex, and he said something prophetic: “You shall be back in Tarkwa soon, in Jesus’ name. I need you here in Tarkwa.” By the grace of God, I was transferred back to Tarkwa in April 2016, and have been here ever since. Rev. Alex took a genuine interest in every aspect of my life — my personal journey, my marriage, my children, my extended family, and even my business ventures. He was always readily available — never too busy to talk, pray, or walk alongside me. I had the great privilege of traveling with him for conventions, weddings, baby dedications, funerals, and other events. These journeys weren’t just physical — they were spiritual and deeply impactful. They were filled with wisdom, laughter, prayer, reflection, and brotherly love. Every mile spent with him left an imprint on my soul — and I know I am not alone in this. "In 2020, I saw a profound and genuine smile on your face. You leaned in gently and whispered to me, 'Pastor Kojo, a fine gentleman of God,' your words wrapped in a warm, approving smile. The joy and fulfillment on your face as you beheld the latest pastors you had nurtured spoke volumes. I am forever grateful, Rev. Alex." Little did I know the journey we took from March 28th to 30th would be the last time I would drive you anywhere. Thank you, Rev. Alex, for the powerful prayers you prayed over me at my project site on our way back. Thank you for the sound advice you gave me on how to proceed with the rest of the project. Your words, your presence, and your spirit will stay with me always. "I never knew that April 13th, 2025, would be the last time I’d see you alive… the last time I’d hold your hands in prayer. If I had known, I would have lingered a little longer. I would have prayed a little harder. There are moments I ask myself—did I pray enough? Did I serve, love, and care for you enough? And yet, these questions have no clear answers now. They echo into the silence you've left behind. But one thing is certain: the Lord needed you more than we did. And though your absence leaves a space no one can fill, your presence still lives in every prayer, every memory, and every act of love you inspired." Rev. Alexander’s faith was not just something he preached — it was something he lived. Whether in the pulpit, on the road, or in quiet, everyday moments, he walked closely with God and invited others to do the same. He believed in people, even when they struggled to believe in themselves. He always had time — time to listen, to pray, to guide. Today, I mourn a profound and irreplaceable loss. But I do not mourn as one without hope. "Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him." — 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 Rev. Alex lived a life poured out in service and now rests in the eternal peace of the One he served so faithfully. His legacy lives on — in the lives he touched, the prayers he offered, the counsel he gave, and the love he so freely shared. He loved me greatly. I now pray for the Lord’s help and strength to bear this loss. May we honor him not only with our words, but with lives that reflect his faith, his compassion, and his unwavering commitment to Christ. Rest well, Rev. Alexander. You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, and you have kept the faith. – 2 Timothy 4:7 Heaven has indeed gained a legend. Yɛ Wo Ojogbaa Tsataa!

If roses grow in heaven, then I pray that angels pick up the most beautiful ones that truly represent my love and appreciation and lay them on the pathway where you would be usshered into eternal rest. Job 21:1 says: "Even when I remember, I am afraid and trembling taketh hold of my flesh" Yes, my family has lost a great treasure, a treasure I beheld immediately I joined Atuabo church. Those who are close can vividly testify how I described you to them as a great father that we would miss in anytime of your retirement. Hmmm Rev Alex, even though I am not one of the pioneers of Atuabo church, the few years with you felt like many years of knowing you. The opportunities you gave my family, the constant prayers, the value you placed on our lives and the readiness to offer us your help was overhwelming. I remember when you requested to see us at your house, the words you spoke to us still ring in my ears. The best advice ever for a couple. My heart aches like there has been a sword threshed through me remembering the last time I sat with you after church and your words were like" This work needs dedication" You were the only one who saw the spirit of dedication in me and wanted to give me the chance to do God's work. I also remember when I had to organise a small sudden party and didnt know what to do, I called you and you told me something which has since helped me ever since. Your smiles infront of the congregation, the humour in your sermons, and the hope that you instilled in us were all pure. Some of us loved you because you liked us so much to let us come near you. Hmmm, the last I heard of you was when I couldn't make it to church and you called and inquired of why I wasn't in church. You prayed for me and told me that may the Lord protect and take care of me. When you said the Lord be with me and bye bye, I never knew you were really departing.... If I had known, I would have engaged you more in a conversation to show me what to do after you have left. Even though it is sad and heartbreaking, who am I to question God who gave you as a gift and has better plans for you. Even if I was able to love you as a human being, then how much love would your creator not have for you. You were a gift, a priceless one at that and I am grateful to have been under your voice. My family would always cherish your visitations, your help, your care and your love. I close my eyes and open and you are nomore. It all looks like a dream because I will not have the opportunity to text you on your birthdays, Christmas days and fathers' day again. I will not have the opportunity to stand and preach with you to the congregation again. But I am strengthened because you taught us about hope. If you can see me write, then this is a piece just to let you know your words will forever abide with me. My family will live by them always. You will forever be in our hearts. Rest well my father.
