"Begun", as those within the permissible age group in the Awobajoffamily would address him, was indeed a gem. That's the simple unvarnished descriptiontthat best describes him. Bayo came into the Awobajo family via marriage to our youngest sibling (Smallie) Tola. He was soon to understand that all you needed to do was find your chronological position in the family (as we didn't identify in-laws separately); then fulfil your responsibilities. AND THAT Begun DID MERITORIOUSLY. Ile a su, ile a mo if I were to start counting: - His gentle but firm assertion of positions. - His Diplomacy at diffusing inevitable familial tensions? - His integrity and dependability in seeing any assignment to fruition? (Refurbishment of Olofin Street Homestead, Coordination of trip to Ogori, for those who know) - Care of our Matriach in her last days even as he himself ailed. Begun, I bid you peaceful rest. Bayo, I am still in shock and saddened to hear of your home call. The memory of our almost six decades of intimate acquittance starting with seven years (1964-1970) friendship in Loyola College, Ibadan and trusted relationship in Ijebu-Ode till your demise will live forever in my heart. I am honored to have known a truly wonderful man like you. Your kind, caring, loving and selfless nature made you a joy to be around. Peter Adebayo-Begun, now that you are in the glory of the Lord, I know that you are very peaceful, because here on earth you always did good and you strived to be happy every day of your life, I will always remember you. My sincere condolences and prayers to your family and friends. May the Lord console and comfort them all during this period. Rest in Peace, my friend!

I commiserate with the family of a great man, Mr Begun, and I pray the almighty God give him eternal rest. A good man and disciplinarian to the core, an academia per excellence. Oga we shall surely miss you. Sun re o.
