I was lucky enough to know Mrs Rattray as a teacher, colleague & a friend. She taught 2 of my boys, who both have very fond memories of her. Danny says she’s the best teacher he ever had. Working as a PSA in Lorraine's classroom it was easy to see why they thought so highly of her. She was such a warm, nurturing lady, with infinite amounts of patience. She always had a smile for everyone & was extremely caring. One of the best! Sending much love to Gordon & the girls. Rest in Peace Lorraine xxxx
Mrs Rattray taught both my girls, Keira and Rebecca, along with Mrs Robertson. Always smiling, genuine and kind. As a parent it seemed that she knew and cared about my girls. She was an asset to Crookfur and will certainly be missed. I hope her family can take some comfort from knowing how many young people she helped to shape and who will remember a caring and supportive teacher.
As a family we were extremely fortunate to have had Mrs Rattray teach 2 of our 3 sons in primaries 1 and 2. Our daughter was delighted to find out she was to be taught by her in primary 1, but sadly her illness prevented this. She was so welcoming and had such a nurturing way, which was so valued by us leaving our young children for the first time, and I know this helped them settle quickly. She was always ready with a warm smile and had a really calm manner. A truly lovely lady and wonderful teacher who is very much missed but fondly remembered. I can’t imagine the pain of her loss to her family, but hope they are sustained in their grief by many happy memories.
My daughter Lucy was taught by Mrs Rattray and Mrs Robertson in her first year at Crookfur. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to Lucy’s Crookfur journey. She absolutely loved Mrs Rattray, she was so kind and caring and I always knew that Lucy was in the best possible care. One of Lucy’s memories of Mrs Rattray was when she fell in the class and bumped her head a short time before she was due on stage for the P1 Nativity. Mrs Rattray was on hand straight away to reassure Lucy and calm her down. ♥️ Lucy will really miss seeing Mrs Rattray at Crookfur. I also work at Kirktonholme Primary so I had the pleasure of knowing Gemma and Amy during their Primary years. The staff at Kirktonholme were deeply saddened to hear about Lorraine and we send our condolences to all of the family. XXX
Mrs Rattray was my teacher in P2 alongside Mrs Lindsay, she was always kind, smiley and a wonderful person to be around. She was everything I could've ever want in a teacher and I was so so lucky to have known her. She will be missed xx❤
Mrs Rattray was Charlotte's P1 teacher. I always remember after Charlotte had been off school for a week in the Autumn, on her return she was a bit nervous going in and Mrs Rattray saw her making her way up the ramp tentatively and said 'Look, there she is, that's my girl!' My daughter's face lit up and Mrs Rattray gave her a big, warm cuddle. That memory has stayed with me as it was such a touching moment. The feeling walking away knowing my daughter was in the best possible care and nurturing environment was priceless. Mrs Rattray was a constant for our family throughout the p1 journey and the first lockdown. We always looked forward to her PE and French lessons online and to her book readings. She will be missed by us. She was a very special lady. Thank you Mrs Rattray for all the encouragement and support. I would also like to pass on my condolences to Mrs Rattray's family.
