Marianne Rogers

August 26, 1928 - February 5, 2023

Born in England, Marianne Rogers lived most of her adult life in Chatswood NSW where she renovated, and made a home of, a historic barn with her husband John, who pre-deceased her. She held a hard won PhD and was a psychologist. She worked as a teacher, school counsellor, and university lecturer, and was a skilled weaver in her spare time. A truly wonderful mother to Tim, and a grandmother who will be missed by Jacob and A’isha. Her great grandson Milan barely got to know her, and she him, a loss for both of them.

My mother passed away last Sunday evening (February 5 2023). She really was a fantastic mother, there’s no need for embellishment or selective memory. Her mind was lucid to the end. And she never lost that trademark determination! The last 3 months were difficult, but there were plenty of patches of joy. I’ll post some images of her last café outing, taken one week before she died. There’s a sparkle in her eyes, for sure.
