We lost our brother, father, friend, mentor, Sierra Leone Area Bishop John K. Yambasu, who died on August 16, 2020. He is being remembered for his courage, leadership and love of The United Methodist Church and Jesus Christ. Bishop Yambasu was, among many things, chancellor of Africa University and president of the Africa College of Bishops.

    I first met Bishop Dr. John K. Yambasu (AKA JKY) in 1986 while he was a teacher at Harford School for Girls in Moyamba, Sierra Leone. His selfless service to his community and his friends was evident then and continued to his last day.
