Jim Gillies

June 25, 1969 - November 13, 2021

Our friend and colleague, Jim Gillies, passed away at home on Saturday the 13th of November after a long battle with cancer. Jim has been part of SLC for over 16 years working in many teams including FE, DSA, BCF and, for the last 6 years, the Assess Platform. Jim has had a huge influence in all the teams he's worked in, but more importantly he has left a positive lasting impression on so many people he worked with. His loss will be felt much more widely than the Assess Platform and he will be missed by many within SLC. Jim is survived by his wife Aileen and daughter Emma and our thoughts go out to them at this time.

My deepest sympathies to Jim's family specially his wife Aileen and daughter Emma on these difficult moments. Jim, you will be missed here a lot. We've been practically working together since the inception of this team and I cannot thank you enough for all your patience, for your knowledge and your support along these years. Also want to thank you for all the good times we had together pairing, trying to understand the craziness of the code and working against all the odds to complete an story or a project in time. Thank you for the jokes and the infinite number of analogies you could come up with (this man had an analogy for everything!). I could go on and on and thank you for an infinite number of things but won't have enough space here. Jim you are a good colleague and a very good friend and you will always be in my heart
