Ilana Zoldan:. From his wheelchair on 35 Union avenue, Isaac touched the world. I remember when I was five and Isaac came to school to join our class for Shabbos party -never mind the treats being given out, Isaac was the treat I remember standing at the street corner. impatiently, my 10-year-old self will the traffic lights to turn green. I was going to visit Isaac Stein and the only thing in my way was that traffic light. I remember all the times I walked into greet Isaac and his shining smile greeted me back. The same smile I saw the first time in that crowded living room, a sure sign of his popularity. I remember so many things, so many memories and as I look back I'm honored that I had the merit of knowing Isaac Stein. If every man is a world, Isaac touched galaxies.
I had the great privilege of having Isaac in my pre 1a class for 4 years every Friday. I guess he smelled the food because he showed up like clockwork by Shabbos party. He would come in with a smile that literally would light up the room. The blankets and hats he'd come with would change week to week but the smile always stayed. If he was ever a little late to Shabbos party the children would know and feel sad that he wasn't there yet. Shabbos party in class is just not the same. I truly learned so much from Isaac and I hold dear to a lot of memories.
One of the greatest gifts my daughter ever received was having Isaac come to her Shabbos parties every week in Morah Shoshanah's classroom. She was so drawn to Isaac's beautiful smile, and in no time at all he had a place in all of our hearts. It was always a bigger pleasure for us to bring shalach manos or Chanukah gifts to him because seeing his glowing face and sweet, joyful reactions to anything Mickey Mouse or Spongebob was truly priceless. We enjoyed every second we spent with him and we know we'll all be reunited very soon with Moshiach bimhayra b'yameinu.
They say dogs are very intuitive.... This dog (Coco) sensed Isaac’s special neshama right away...

I had the absolute pleasure of getting to know Isaac as a friend and music therapist. Of all of the music therapy clients I have served, Isaac was one of the most memorable because of his deep connection to music of all kinds. It was so much fun getting to "jam" with him and family, singing everything from Eighth Day to Sesame Street, and everything in between. He was a great sport, open to almost anything I had up my sleeve. We did some songwriting together, with him making choices about song lyrics and getting involved in singing and playing them from week to week. There were times when he wasn't in the mood for much, but it was always a joy just to spend time with him. I remember Isaac so fondly -- such a special neshama with so much personality and strength.
