Message by Moazam Jah Ansari, Commandant Frontier Constabulary:
When we joined the Police Academy, Mr Zafar Rathore was the Commandant, who soon was posted as DIB, replaced by the illustrious late Abbas khan Sahib. He was our commandant then, until we completed our training in April of 1991. He was most kind and considerate towards the needs of young probationers.
I had again the honor of serving under him in 1994 when he was IGP Punjab, and I was ASP Civil Lines Lahore. Whenever he would visit Punjab Assembly, I would receive him on the staircase and escort him to the Assembly Hall. He would always ask after my health and duties, and pass a few cheerful remarks. He was called “Khoobsoorat IG” by many legislators when I talked of him.
I had a closer interaction with him after I was posted as Commandant FC in 2018, and he honored me over various dinners at the CFC house, whenever Senior officers visited Peshawar.
His batchmate and close friend, Mr Khawar Zaman visited Peshawar in 2019 and we had hearty and lengthy talks over many subjects.
He sent me and my wife Eid suits and Charsadda chapli and I must say he was a man of taste.
I spoke to Begum sahiba when he was taken ill last week who asked me to pray for him, and not to make the news of his illness public.
A highly refined officer and a great human being.
Most composed, considerate and compassionate, an inspiration for all who ever knew him.
May Allah bless his soul.
