Morris or affectionately called Bruce was a man of tremendous integrity. He was caring, thoughtful and compassionate towards his friends, children and other family members. Morris was an extraordinary human being who always placed others above himself. This was displayed throughout his daily life as he lived the life as a true champion and warrior for Christ. SIP

Good afternoon, everyone. Today I stand in a place of numbness and thankfulness. I have known Morris who was affectionately called Bruce for more than twenty years. I decided to use a few words from the word BRUCE to assist me with this remembrance. B for brilliant and bold, R for respectful, resilient, and radiant, U for unique, C for compassionate, counsellor and caring and E for excellence and extraordinary. Bruce was not only a friend but a brother and a confidant. He was a man of tremendous integrity. I never felt uncomfortable around him as he would always treat me like one of his siblings. Bruce loved his family members and friends dearly. His dreams and aspirations were many; as a teenager and even as a young adult he worked hard, and he studied, as his main aim was to ensure that he was able to compete among the very best in the world. He achieved all the certifications possible to make his dream a reality- a sound education he believed would enable him to assist his family in whatever way he could. He also wanted his siblings to be empowered and yes, he would assist them with homework or any other assignments. For those who were not aware, Bruce taught for a few years in the Information Technology Department at the Rollington Town Primary School. It was a joy when Bruce accepted the Lord as his personal saviour. There was so much happiness, passion, fire, and radiance he exhibited at that time. He dedicated his time to all church activities, and he would invite me to a few fasting services and youth Sundays. God opened a door for Morris in 2003 as he would leave the shores of Jamaica and travel to Europe, in particular the United Kingdom. Morris kept in touch on a regular basis; he never forgot his roots and he never lost his passion for his Creator. His love for God continued to intensify. He was such a warrior and champion for Christ. He wanted to share the love of God with everyone that he met and so he did. I always say God has such a sense of humour as God gave him a wife, my sister Racquel who had the same passion for God. What a dynamic duo! Bruce was never one to complain. If there was a difficulty or an obstacle, he always found a solution as he knew that his rock was Jesus Christ. His faith in God allowed him to face many hurdles in his life and at no given time he was ever bitter with his process. He embraced the process and continued the journey. My last conversation with Bruce was on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at approximately 2 p.m. Jamaica time. We texted, but prior to this we spoke a week before that as I congratulated him on writing his book. I told him how insightful and impactful his writings were. He told me he wanted me to do a review and he would send me the document, which he did. He told me when he arrives in Jamaica we will eat and drink; I was so excited. Little did I know that this would be our last conversation as he transitioned the next day. One thing I am thankful for, is that I would always respond to his good morning messages. Today although I am saddened, Morris has taught me a few things: firstly, never procrastinate, he wrote a book and yes in time it will be published and secondly take nothing or no one for granted as we do not know when our last day will be. Congregants Morris has left a legacy let us all aspire to live for Christ. Let us keep in touch with a text or a phone call. He cannot hear us, but one thing is certain it is well with his soul. Rest well my bro you will never ever be forgotten.
