Vishna Rasiah

July 19, 1971 - April 23, 2020

Dr Vishna Rasiah, beloved husband, father, brother, son and a well-respected and much-loved colleague at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s, has sadly passed away following treatment for COVID-19. Dr Rasiah, known to all his friends as Vish, was a Consultant Neonatologist at Birmingham Women’s Hospital and was highly-regarded across the Midlands as part of his role as Clinical Lead for the regional Neonatal network. Vish was a proud husband and father. His wife Liza said: “We’re devastated at losing our beloved Vish. He was such a loving husband and father to our beautiful daughter Katelyn, and much loved son and brother to our family in Malaysia and Trinidad. His whole family meant the world to him, and he absolutely doted on Katelyn. Vish loved his work; to him it was so much more than a job and his colleagues are part of our family too. He treated every patient and family he cared for as his own; I couldn’t have been prouder of him. I would like to thank the staff at Worcestershire Royal Hospital for the kindness, compassion and the care that they have provided to us over an incredibly difficult past few weeks.”

Dear Liza Finding words to express what Vish meant to me is difficult. A ‘Guru’ and mentor in the true sense, he imparted knowledge freely with no expectations of thanks in return. He taught me, even at the cost of his personal time. He inspired a love of neonatology in me and shaped my career. His smile, love for food and photos brought everyone together. The love and legacy of the ‘Boss’ will always live on within our hearts. He will always shine down on us from above and show us how to live life to the full... May he rest peacefully Dear Katelyn Your daddy was the most amazing man I ever met. You should be so so proud of him.. Lots of love to both of you at this heartbreaking time
