I first got to know Vaughn on an advanced advocacy training course that we attended in Stellenbosch. We immediately formed a friendship. He struck me as such a warm person, and I remember laughing a lot with him. Since then, he has always been an encouragement to me. He was always full of energy and joy. When I returned to South Africa (having left for oversees) due to a difficult personal situation, he was one of the first people to offer me kind words and support. I loved his passion and how he was such a survivor, moving countries and even embarking on a new career mid-life. I will miss him dearly. I am sad that his time was cut short!
