Uncle Afolabi (as we called him in the family) will always be remembered for his uprightness and his dedication to the things of God. Peps up! (As we called him in high school Ashs) was a strict disciplinarian, yet a very warm and kind hearted man. I personally remember how he handled my excesses lovingly while I was under his care at the time. I may have not understood it then, but now I know how much he cared. He will be missed, but my consolation is that he has finished the good work with a firm belief in God and he has overcome. Rest In Peace and PepsUp, Uncle Afolabi. P.S...PepsUp is a word he always used when he wanted to tell you to be smart, up and doing, courageous and to be of good cheer. He also said it when he felt you have done well, like.... “ PepsUp, my young friend”...then his signature straight face, with hands by the side (military style), a slight pout, then he’d conclude with the funniest giggle that was always infectious to all around.
