I have worked with Taylor for around 6 years. I remember him vividly in the first governance meeting at the Bristol office when IDL and Palladium joined forces, and being so impressed with his ideas and the way that he and Sam ran this meeting. We then went for dinner in Poco in Stokes Croft in Bristol - it was such a lovely evening getting to know our new colleagues.
I was also lucky enough to work with Taylor when we set up the Ikiraro project in Rwanda. We went to small hotel in a place called La Palisse in Gashora, Bugesera. One evening we went for a walk around a lake in which you could see the hippos and crocodiles - Taylor wanted to get closer to the water edge and I was too scared so stayed back! He had a real love of life and embraced life to the fullest. We also played a lot of cards - did many walks to the local village - it was such a special trip.
I think one of the biggest impacts that Taylor (and Sam) have had on me is when I worked in the Bristol office for a year. So many lunch times I would forget to bring in lunch and every time Taylor and Sam would be incredibly generous in sharing their lunch with me and fresh bread from a bakery close to their house.
The last time I saw Taylor in the London office we had a very quick conversation and asked about each other families and agreed next time we were both in the office we would catch up over a coffee. I am devastated that I will never get the chance to do this. A lesson to us all to seize the day!
Taylor - may you rest in peace. I will miss your energy and generosity every time I see you in the office and feel privileged that I got to work with you over a number of years. My deepest sympathies goes to Sam and his wonderful children. I know you were his world.
