-Dear Nouna,
We were very sad to hear that Svante left us. His scientific work and ideas have had great influence on our research philosophy, and chemometric principles are an integral part of our phenotypic drug discovery process. This has led us to important discoveries in the field of CNS pharmacology, and more will come, as the full impact of involving powerful multivariate methods in drug discovery and development evolves. In addition to reading and citing his scientific writings, some of us had the pleasure of meeting Svante, mostly at chemometric conferences, which always meant having a very good time with vivid discussions on science and statistics and many, many laughs.
Among the different latent messages in the “PLS” acronym, I would like to advocate this - Please listen to Svante. And we will continue to do so.
