Jayne, Sarah, Darren,
Please accept my deepest condolences for your tragic loss.
I feel privileged to count Stuart as one of my closest friends as well as a great colleague and confidant. He was generous with his time in sharing advice and experience and was a great advocate for the Company. As a member of ‘the gang of four’ I won’t be alone in stating that he was great social company, too, and I think there’s a heavenly beer glass with his name on it.
I will miss him profoundly, yet I hope a part of him will live on through my enduring memories.

Stuart (Stu) graduated from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in 1982 and joined GEC Turbine Generators, Rugby as a graduate apprentice. Engaged within the Controls, Systems and Applications Group, Stuart developed a flair for numerical analysis and went on to define the company standard for HP cylinder overheating protection in addition to helping implement the first digital governing systems. As Stu’s career matured, he became the group’s lead for new project tender activities where he augmented his flair and expertise to encompass the entire range of turbine shaft-line auxiliary systems. Stu went on to lead the Systems Engineering group of engineers until the merger with GE when he was appointed Controlled Title Holder with responsibility for Lubricating Oil and Hydraulics Systems. Throughout his career, Stu was always courteous and professional and always able to find the time to help others. Outside of work Stu was a keen hobbyist with interests in DIY, cars, motor racing, photography, dog walking, music and computers and a love of all gadgetry from his beloved Karcher to his motor operated compound mitre cutter. Stuart is survived by his wife Jayne, Sarah and Darren and brother Mike. By Alan Lang
