Prof Parry was key to the establishment and development of the Link between Nottingham City Hospital and the Jimma Institute of Health Sciences in Ethiopia, which is now the Link between Nottingham University Hospitals and Jimma University Hospital and Medical School. He was always hugely encouraging and the source of so much practical advice, both when he visited us in Nottingham and on the ground in Jimma. My wife Anne and I appreciated his friendship so much, and our thoughts and our prayers are with Helen and the family.
