I joined the IPCC in 2004 as a rookie investigator and worked with Simon as my manager, educator, advisor and friend until 2011. He advised and helped me through some very challenging situations and developed me to progress my career, I appreciated and never doubted his support.
My memories of Simon are very fond. He was very entertaining with his stories of his experiences of life in the police and royal protection. He really loved life, he appreciated the finer things and was very generous in sharing his passions with those around him.
I was fortunate to share meals a sailing voyage and trips to the cricket with Simon and to be invited to his home for the team barbecue where I had the pleasure to meet Debbie, Sarah and Peter.
Simon was dedicated to his work but his face really lit up when he spoke about his family and he was very proud of Sarah and Peter and all that they achieved and his love and appreciation for Debbie were very clear.
Simon was such a big character and I’m grateful to have had him in my life. My sincere condolences to Debbie, Sarah, Peter and all the family. Simon will be greatly missed.
