Simon was taken well before his time and it is a very sad end to such an active and dedicated life.
I hadn’t been in touch with Simon since I moved back to Australia some 6 years ago, nor do I have any current contact with the IOPC but I’m sure former colleagues, wherever they may be now, will remember him with affection. I for one have many memories of middle-of-the-night and weekend conversations on deaths in custody, when Simon was always available whatever the hour, and could always be counted on to respond with common sense.
My thoughts are with Simon's family at such a sad and difficult time.
