I have wonderful memories of the few times I got to spend with Auntie Sheila and her family on my 48 hour stop offs in Sydney and their visit to the UK. I always felt so welcome and truly with family. I particularly remember Sheila’s wicked sense of humour, which I think this picture captures perfectly! I am thankful to have had the opportunity to share these moments with such a wonderful lady and she will leave a big hole in the lives of all who knew and loved her.

Sheila was - amongst many other things - a talented artist. This is a painting she did in 1985. A photo doesn't do it justice - it radiates energy and expression, and remains one of my most precious possessions. When I was about 5 or 6, I remember driving myself mad that I couldn't draw trees. Aunty Sheila explained how to (in language a 6 year old could understand). I asked her for some pictures ... next time we saw her, she gave me a whole stack of simple watercolour paintings of trees - every shape and size I could imagine. I was overjoyed and it is still a delightful and vivid memory that makes me smile.
