Scott MacDonald

November 29, 1972 - January 25, 2023

Please join us in mourning the loss, but also celebrating the life of our friend and colleague Scott MacDonald. Scott was the first member of the Delphix support team in the UK, starting in 2014 and had an extensive career history in tech, spanning three decades. He will be sorely missed by his colleagues in the Basingstoke office, as well as the wider Delphix family. Please share any memories of your interactions with Scott, as well as any condolences you would like to be passed on to his partner Rebecca and his family.

George Wilson (via Zoom) I have many memories of working with Scott. From the early days of dealing with some nasty performance issues to working to get his telegraf work integrated into the product. In all of those times his humility was always on display. I don’t think he ever realized just how good he was at his job and even when the spotlight was on him he never really understood why. He was an intelligent and kind soul and will be missed by the entire company. It was an honor to work with you my friend and you will be missed!

Don Deal (via Zoom) ...Scott was such an authentic person who was comfortable being his own man. He had so many different dimensions and interest, Really greater than the sum of his parts. It’s great to know that he made the same impression on so many other people.

Scott Butler (via Zoom) He always had time for the UK presales team and last year took time out of his day to explain ZFS fundamentals in relation to our offering. His passion for what we do and the 4 C’s were all on show that day.

Thomas Wai (via Zoom) I didn't know Scott very well. He was there when we first got the network up and running at the Basingstoke office. I felt he was a super cool guy and was sitting with us providing us support so patiently. So shocked to hear of his passing.

Stefan DeWolfe (via Zoom) I wish I had more time to get to know him. He started helping me with the telegraf + grafana setup as well. I’d have loved to have the privilege of having a beer with him.

My deepest condolences to Rebecca and Scott's family. I had the opportunity to meet and work with Scott for a month when he first joined Delphix back in 2014. He picked me up from the airport and drove us back to Basingstoke to the little apartment I had for the month. Scott had to borrow Rebecca's car to pick me up in the mornings to take me to the little shared office we had, just big enough for two people. The month went fast working with Scott was a pleasure. He already knew so much. We enjoyed many lunches and dinners together, meeting Rebbecca a number of times. He was a kind and down to earth person who went out of his way while I was there. Scott was the one that suggested going to Morocco before heading back to the states at the end of the month. His love of Harley's and his bike trips in the US while he was on vacation will be remembered as he will be, along with the many interactions we had in the following years.
