What a great man. I first met SHeriff Roth as part of the Lions Eye Bank Shoot for sight in 1985 or 86. We stole the idea from the US Olympic Team that had an event in LA for the US Olympic Shooting Team. They had Magic Johnson, Tommy Lasorda, Micheal Knight of Knight Rider, Wm Shatner, etc come out to hit clay pigeons. There were donors for every clay pigeon that that could hit. Some did very, very well. WE tried the same principle here for the Lions Eye Bank. Sheriff Roth, the Fire Chief, Willis Reed, the Creighton Mens basketball coach at the time, the mayor were all in attendance. There were a lot of folks who bet $100 per shot that Coach Reed couldn't hit any clay pigeons. They were right! I remembser that the Governor Kay Orr sent the head of the HIWAY Patrol to shoot for her. Evidently, at the end of the match Dick Roth and the Hiway patrol man were tied, but it wasn't over. They went down to the end of the range and had their own personal shootoff. I don't remember who won, but they were satisfied, so the Lions were satisfied, too. We raised over $100,000 in those fundraisers for the Lions Eye Bank of Nebraska. Thank you Sheriff Roth.
