Those who walk uprightly
enter into peace;

Rev. Stephen Gittens was an excellent preacher of the word of God which he preached with deep conviction and passion; a passion driven by a thirst for biblical truth. During our youthful years I remember how delighted I was to know that my good friend Stephen had given his life to Christ and had become, as we say in evangelical circles, a very "fiery" preacher and evangelist who reminded us all of our call to live holy lives well pleasing to God, and as an acquaintance of mine recently said to me, he will forever be remembered for his oft rendition of the song by Larnelle Harris "I Miss My Time With You" calling us away from being bogged down with our busy schedules to spend quality time seeking the Lord in a life of devotion to him.
Stephen also had a very jovial nature befitting his very broad smile and a charm that endeared him to young and old alike.
When I heard of his sudden death my heart was deeply saddened and what immediately came to mind in my moment of sorrow were the words of the prophet Elisha as the LORD suddenly took his mentor and friend Elijah away to heaven in a chariot of fire; "My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!"
My very deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences goes out to his wife Laura, son Ramon and all his family, friends, and colleagues.
Stephen Gittens, now as always, in the hands of the Lord. Rest in peace my dear brother and friend, rise in eternal glory.
