Adieu to a General in the Army of God’s Mission
It is with great sadness and joy in the Holy Spirit that my wife and I write this tribute to you Apostle Kevin Israel a General in the Army of God’s Mission in Africa. The joy being that you have kept your appointment with death according to Hebrews 9:27 that says “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Secondly you slept in the Lord and now resting from all your labors carried out sacrificially in several church plantings and the mission field of Francophone Countries as the book of Revelation 14:13 says “And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, said the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.”
We are very sad because you are missed not only from us your very close friends of three decades plus but the people you have selfless served for decades in rural areas of Francophone Countries of Africa. It was a week ago you spoke to me as usual that you were hospitalized due inhaling of some kind of poisonous gas; but now getting better and stronger. We agreed in prayers and I promised to check on you again before the week runs out. Then the sudden news of passing on to the street of gold came, it hits me and my wife like thunder bolt. It was unbelievable! I called your darling wife Pastor Mrs. Feyisara our sister and it was confirmed.
My wife and I believe God saw you getting tired; and a cure and healing was not meant to be as we have fervently prayed. Instead in His unsearchable wisdom; because God is too wise to be foolish and tender mercies He put his loving arms around you like He did to Enoch; and whispered ' Kevin Come Home son'. Pastor Sunday Aibinuomo called it “invitation to higher table of the Lord” where very few are given the privileged. I pray that the rest of us will live a life to be privileged for invitation to this Lord ’s Table.
Although we loved you deeply; your mission minded caring heart stopped beating, your hard working mission hands now at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us. One great poet said “never say you lost anything, say you gave it back.” Indeed God only takes the best away since He gave you to us at first. We have given you back to our creator and sustainer God Almighty.
“Baba Shooo” as you are fondly called by me and some of your very close friends, you were more than a friend, you were a real brother, an avid encourager, a mission minded individual, an enthusiastic reader, a great giver always sharing till all you have is gone. You took the vision of National Call to Prayer for Nigeria that the Lord gave me and my wife along with Pastor Aibinuomo as if you received the vision. I can still remember many songs you taught us, the prayers you prayed and led along with the insightful bible teaching you gave in those memorable days of rugged intercession.
All these sterling qualities can never be forgotten; and your cherished memories will never fade in our hearts. Even though you are gone, we cherish your loving & caring spirit, for as long as there is memory, your life will live on in our hearts. See you again on the resurrection morning my brother Kevin Israel.
Yours in Christ’s Vineyard,
