Renaud Parentani

July 31, 1962 - May 20, 2020

Renaud was a wonderful person with an exceptional mind. He was Full Professor at Université Paris Sud, Orsay in France. As a colleague, he was known for his deep knowledge of quantum mechanics and gravitation. His contributions had a profound impact on our understanding of cosmology and black holes. As a friend, we will never forget his wittiness, his sense of humor and his sparkling eyes.

Very few people can talk with the same depth and passion about the quantum aspects of black holes, baroque music, and Franquin's comics. Renaud was one of them, someone with whom I could talk about anything and always learn something new. His insight, curiosity, sharp mind, scientific rigour, and deep knowledge of a variety of topics within and outside physics made each discussion with him hugely rewarding. A thousand words could not express how much I owe Renaud, as a former student and as a friend. My deepest condolences to Anna and to Renaud's family.
