FROM NATHANIEL OBADIA : When I was studying with Joseph Katz, in 97, Renaud came to attend the Marcel Grossmann and Joseph told me "If you want to do a PHD with a good advisor, that's the guy" : 2 years later I became Renaud's first PHD student. Beyond the sadness of such news, I will remember, like everyone here, Renaud's smile and incredible ability to convey knowledge. I will also remember someone who was not only a great physicist but an « honnête homme » , someone who could talk about science, music, wine, politics etc.. I owe him much. "
