I met Tony in 1993 whilst studying for a Masters in Remote Sensing. Tony was one of the lecturers. It was a difficult time for me personally and Tony took me, and other students, under his wing.
He felt like a father figure and friend. We enjoyed a Zoom reunion last year and he requested another less than a month ago.
He was generous and encouraging in all my endeavors. He was keen to stay updated on the progress of all his former students. Only 12 days ago he messaged commenting on my team's miraculous and unexpected win. He always empathised as a long suffering Sunderland fan.
He will be greatly missed for the wonderful, warm human being he was.
