Professor Jim Dornan - RCSI Bahrain

February 5, 1948 - March 15, 2021

Jim was a hugely valued member of the RCSI Bahrain family and a true pioneer of both clinical and academic developments in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Jim joined RCSI Bahrain in March 2020 as Professor and Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Jim’s professionalism, energy, and dignity elevated any occasion. He was a true shining star, always full of life, an excellent teacher, role model and inspiration to us all. Before joining RCSI Bahrain, Jim was a Career Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at Royal Maternity Hospital Belfast, Chair Health & Life Sciences University Ulster and former Senior Vice President & International Officer for the Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. On behalf of the extended RCSI community, we extend our deepest sympathies to Jim’s wife Samina, his children and grandchildren.

We meet many people in our lifetimes, but few have the impact that Prof Jim has had on so many of us. His kindness, humour and zest for life made everyone he met feel better for having known him and he never failed to leave them with a smile on his face. While only having been with the RCSI family for a relatively short time, he has meant so much to so many of us. Rest well Jim, your legacy remains and will always be cherished.
