Devastated to hear the news. I was born 3 months after Patrick and lived on the same street in Moss Side with him, Raby Street, until they decided to knock the lot down and rebuild. Patrick’s family moved out before we did but it was with great delight that a few months later we moved into the same avenue in Stretford that Patch (think it was my dad who christened him as Patch and my sister Kate still called it him the other day) was already on, Bradwell. Patch, Phil, Gary Abela, Trevor and Sharon, Linda from next door to him, such fond memories. We were good mates for a long time, and the think with Patrick is that even though we had not seen each other for far too long, it has occurred to me more than once in the last few days that if I’d have called him needing something he would not have hesitated to help. One of life’s true gentlemen and his passing is far too soon. Sleep tight Patch, is down here have lost another good guy.
