We thank the Almighty God for the life and times of Rear Admiral Olufemi Olumide, a life well lived and one that was full of moments to treasure. “Rear Admiral” as he was fondly called in our home was a very dear friend of the family. He was very close to my late husband. Both of them had shared a lot of common bonds; the same first name “Femi,” engineers by trade, and membership in the Fountain of Hope society at St. John’s Anglican Church, Igbein, Abeokuta. I later found out his wife, Deola, my dearest friend and sister was from Iperu, where my late grandmother was from. This double friendship brought both families close together; our children attended the Nigerian Navy Secondary School and are also friends today. Rear Admiral was very simple, hardworking, wise, frank and extremely humble. My husband found in him a confidant who was equally passionate about our dear country and in whom he could discuss its sorry state of affairs. I pray that God will grant the Olumide family the strength needed to deal with this great and sad loss, not only to them but to the entire country. May Rear Admiral’s gentle and perfect soul rest in eternal peace......Mrs Yemisi Ogunseinde
