The demise of Rear Admiral Olumide was a shock thrown to us maybe because of his demeanour to life; ever young at heart, you could hardly notice his age.
I recall the first time I met Daddy, having heard all the accolades attached to his name, ah! I was not expecting to see a humane, humble, unassuming but an intelligent personality. Daddy offered me a chilled palmwine in a jar with tumbler and since my head cannot carry alcohol of any percentage, I politely declined by saying, " Daddy thank you, Sir but I can't stand it" and daddy jocularly replied " then sit it".
Daddy Olumide became a frequent visitor at FUNAAB International School (FUNIS) setting up things, assisting even in fixing equipment. He stood our first set of water tanks and the signpost. He was totally supportive in Mama Olumide's pioneering activities at FUNIS.
A rare gentleman and gallant officer, ADIEU DADDY.
Mrs "O" as fondly called by Daddy.
