YOU'RE MY HERO, ELDER BROTHER/COUSIN JOHN OLUDAISI ABIDAKUN!!!
Undoubtedly, I cried bitterly upon hearing the passage of a GENTLE GIANT & HERO of the family, Pa OLUDAISI Abidakun whom I privately referred to as Elder brother Abidakun!
However, upon further reflection, I realized that, although you've transcended into everlasting GLORY; a better resting place compared to this tumultuous and sinful World of ours today. I must celebrate your Christ-like and exemplary life as thousands who knew you will attest herewith.
Sir, I will forever remember, admire and emulate you for your enviable caring, loving-kindness, generous and always peace seeking attributes! How can I forget your fatherly guidance, patience and tolerance with people and things of this World of vanity upon vanity that know no bounds!
Sir, I learnt a whole lot from you such that, I have personally incorporated them into my life and will continually incubate into my children and others, I interact with in my daily endeavors.
For the eternal records or posterity, you played several and important roles in my life before and upon my arrival at the chores of New York, United States of America! Quickly, let me enumerate very few among several acts of kindness and generosity:
* You helped and coordinated my 1977
College admission (with my late elder
brother, Engineer Rufus Kunis Eddo)
into New York Institute of Technology.
* You warmly and whole-heartedly.
received and hosted me upon my
arrival into Brooklyn, New York from.
London in 1981.
* You fed and and provided a proof over
my head FREE of charge for the first
solid three months of my arrival in the
States.
* You helped and secured my first noble
job as "ODE APERIN" (Security guard)
with Burns Security Services, New
York. This job ($2.78/an hour) helped
pay for most of my first College
degree tuition.
* You regularly and continually
expressed JOY & PRIDE at every point
of my educational achievements,
career advancement, when I first
secured an employment with The Bank
of New York, personal upgrade, when
my wife joined me and subsequently at
each birth of my children. All these
constituted the powerful winds
beneath my wings.
Sir, from the deepest bottom of my heart, I thank you for these acts of kindness and support from you.
In evergreen loving memory of any unforgettable Great cousin/elder brother and Daddy, YOU ARE MY HERO then, now and till eternity!
REST IN A PERFECT PEACE GENTLE GIANT!!!
Humbly,
Francis 'Sola Yussuf, Sr.
