I had the great honor of partnering with Nick and his leadership team at Whiting more than 8 years ago when he brought executive coaching and team development to the refinery. He was an early adopter of coaching even though at the time it was a new form of development for him. He understood the importance of providing leaders an external sounding board for personal growth and development. Our professional friendship grew over the years during coffee, tea, lunch, and dinner exchanges in Chicago and London. Family was top of mind, and he was always exuberant to share his leadership learnings -- both the challenges and the glories.
