IDOWU FAMILY TRIBUTE
Mrs Labake Adigun( née Idowu) was one of the grandchildren of Pa Michael Olaosebikan Idowu & Mrs Zenobia Idowu( née Quimbra of Brazilian descent).
Pa Idowu was an extremely successful businessman, popularly known on Wakeman St, yaba( now Borno way) as ‘Baba oni Kiniun’ because of the statue of a Lion erected on his balcony! Very unusual in those days.
Her formative years were spent with her grandparents once her father, Papas first son, left for England to study.
From childhood, cousin Labake learnt gentleness & thoughtfulness from her grandmother. She was ever smiling & ready to help with any chore, including looking after her younger cousins when they came around. These characteristics made her well loved by all her cousins with whom she interacted very freely.
Even though her home was in Abeokuta with her beloved husband & children, & where she had important duties as a pastors wife & deaconess, she was always ready to celebrate with her cousins when she could.
Of particular note is her attendance at the wedding of Cousin Gbolahan’s son in USA in 2017. She travelled from Nigeria in company of Mrs Yinka Salako, Gbolahan’s older sister. She also spent quality time with her younger aunt Prof Mrs Tayo Popoola who also resides in Abeokuta.
The family received the news of her death with great shock & sadness but bow to the almighty will of God.
Cousin Labake leaves behind 3 younger siblings & a host of cousins in the Idowu family spread all over the world. She will be greatly missed.
May her gentle soul find rest with her creator. Amen.
