Absolutely heartbroken to hear about Melanie. She was a truly remarkable lady. She was far more than a headteacher ... what she did for both me and Andy over the years and what she did for Nath and Dec.. we will be forever greatful for. She loved my boys like they were her own. The comments she wrote on the reports each year were always so personalised and had me in tears.. she knew the boys as well as I did and invested in their learning journey more than I could ever have hoped for. Since reading her comments and knowing the time/effort she put in I never ever copied and pasted in any report and I now always write from the heart, like she did. Her door was always open and she regularly listened to my rants or was ever so supportive during personal problems. She constantly championed the boys and provided them with everything they needed every step of the way. She personally picked me up when I hit rock bottom during personal problems. She celebrated the highs with us all but also was a shoulder to cry on ... I could go on and on... but what is even more amazing.. is that my 2 were just 2 out of 210 pupils and I know she did exactly the same for every other child/parent in her care. She really was the most amazing person ever and it breaks my heart that the dreaded C has taken away such an incredible person. Life can be so cruel. RIP Mel... you have touched the hearts of 1000's and will be fondly remembered by many.
