Martin’s sudden passing came as a real shock to us.
When I first joined Highways some twenty odd years ago, Martin was part of the team, and he didn’t ever change much. He always had plenty to say and had a view on everything, but it came from a good place where he would defend what was right, including helping those that needed support. We had many conversations about how bad Manchester United had become, or about the golf.
Martin was a really social person who enjoyed the office environment, and more recently my wife Cindy, worked with Martin who would always make time for a chat, whether that be about work or just a catch up.
Martin was a really proud dad to his kids, and he would often reel off the latest films his son had worked on. He also took great pride in showing us family photos including those of his daughter and grandchildren, and he always looked forward to Fridays when he was on babysitting duty.
I also remember the photos of the amazing time he spent in New Zealand (I think it was) at the rugby world cup (yes I saw every photo, which took the best part of a morning).
Martin will be really missed by us all, both on a work and a personal level.
