Lorna and I became close friends as well as colleagues when I first started work in 1997. She was the first person to send me a beautiful wreath when my young nephew was killed in an accident in 1998 . I remember thinking what a lovely kind and compassionate human being she was to someone she hardly knew. In the years that followed we shared so much laughter and joy as well as sad and difficult times. I knew Lorna's Mum and often compared stories and memories of people and places in Falkirk much changed over the passing years. We enjoyed the same sense of humour, used the "f" word often and tried to put the world to rights on many occasions. The best was yet to come when she met David her " Soul Mate" and other half . I remember her nipping out to meet him for a coffee and I would watch them talk and laugh around a little table just outside the window of the office. We too shared recipes as our love of food was so unique. She liked my Polish sandwiches and Bigos (Polish Cabbage) and when I was making one for myself for lunch I used to double it up and say that's mine sorted, now one for Lorna, and she would smile a big smile when I handed it to her in her office then phoned to say how much she enjoyed it !
In work, her knowledge and expertise was like nothing I had ever experienced, so professional and so ready to help when I needed an answer to a specific question then of course it led to a conversation which was not necessarily work related and we would end up chatting for more time than was really allowed especially when it continued in to the Car Park after work. Lorna, you were one in a Million, a bright and shining star in this awful world full pf pain ,cruelty ,hunger and sadness. You brought happiness to those lives you touched and our Blessed Lord must have taken you in to his arms for a reason. Remember my Dearest friend, you were truly loved and will be sadly missed God Bless You Nina x
