Christine’s students have always been lucky to get her as their teacher. From bringing Shakespearean plays to life to hula hooping with her students, she has always followed her passions, challenged her students to rise to their full potential, while having lots of fun along the way. Because the apple does not fall far from the tree, it comes as no surprise that many of the memories here reflect the same qualities in Kye. When Christine suggested that young Kye (14 years old?) volunteer in my phys. ed. class, I was happy to have him join us, but in the back of my mind thinking that maybe she was putting him up to it. No such thing - he clearly loved engaging with kids, and loved showing off his soccer skills even more! The students loved having him around to play with and talk to. He had a bright smile for everyone, but also a quiet observant side to him that matured him beyond his years. On many occasions afterwards, Kye would come up in our conversations and it was always so evident how much they meant to each other and how proud Christine was of everything that was Kye. Christine, as lucky as your students were to get you as their teacher, Kye was luckier to get you for his mom. So much love for you at this difficult time. ❤️

Thank you for such a heartfelt memory. Yes, loved kids and volunteering at Pape and after even entertained the thought of becoming a gym teacher or a chess teacher. In his last months, when he was reflecting on what career he wanted to do next, he thought
