Kate Pitt

March 23, 1965 - January 1, 2022

Kate was an extremely well-liked and respected colleague throughout the 34 years that she worked with the FCA and our wider regulatory family. Kate contributed greatly to some of the highest profile initiatives across our organisation and worked tirelessly to strengthen our defences preventing the wrong firms and individuals from being able to cause harm to UK consumers. Kate was passionate about her work and protecting consumers, and she imbued that passion among those around her to whom she was a valued and inspiring colleague, source of support and friend. She will be fondly remembered as someone who always had time for others, for the fun she brought and for her playful sense of humour. Kate will be deeply missed.

Absolutely devastating news. I worked with Kate when she first joined the OFT in 1990 and we had huge amounts of fun, with plenty of day trips to Calais, where she would obviously impress with her fluent French. I was always struck, not only by her dedication to her work, but also how she was able to translate those wonderful Bristolian tones (or should I say Kingswooodian tones) and that filthy laugh into such a pure and clear singing voice. Although I hadn’t seen Kate for a while, she was someone who whenever you met up with her, it felt like you’d seen her only yesterday. So it’s incredibly hard to believe, let alone accept, that Kate won’t be at the next gathering of ex-OFTers, spreading fun and filthy laughter wherever she goes. My thoughts and sympathies to her family.
