Sweet José, we will miss you! I will miss you. You felt like my little brother, and you were always one of the first people I greeted in ICF. You were there: kind, humble, faithful and always early in church, as you honoured the Lord Jesus in your heart - and also your mom, who had taught you to follow Him.
Your first question to me was always:’ How’s mama!?’ I learned from you more about the beauty of honouring our moms as you encouraged us to do so - in words, but most of all by example.
You also brought several people to ICF, - esp. your good friend Joshua. - just inviting them to join you.!It inspired me!
.
In your life you faced many challenges, which made you sad and lonely. You missed your mom and your home country so much. You were grieving all you lost in such tragic ways. You did not ask for much as you just longed for a simple life, were you would serve God, be part of a town community, serve fish in a restaurant and enjoy life with people you loved. And how much we desired that for you too!
We prayed for comfort and wholeness for you, and you testified of God’s presence - right through the difficult times. But now that your life here on earth has ended, we know the deepest desires of your heart have finally been fulfilled, as your life with God has only just began. Finally you are released from the body that caused you so much pain; from this earth that has never been your home. And I am glad for you, as you are now truly Home - with the Father who loves you soooo much. Now you can truly be who He made you to be…
Last week we prayed that God would give you your smile back - which was beautiful but which we didn’t see much anymore - and I am convinced He heard us. Now you can sing worship songs and smile and dance as much as is in your heart!
Sweet José, I thank God for you and for being part of our lives. Some of us know you as you were before, when you were chatting, singing and laughing. When you cycled with us, telling many stories! When you enjoyed the celebrations we had, like picknicks, your birthday and Sinterklaas.
Yet also later, you have been the same inside: thankful and humble, faithful, kind and always willing to serve others, loving God. You were our friend and brother,
We’ll miss you little brother.. You will be forever in our hearts. Until we meet again in our Father’s Hiome!
