Jonathan was one of the first people I met during my first week at Stripe. He was one of the kindest, most welcoming people I've ever worked with (or even known in general). It was my pleasure to work with him and consider him a friend. Jonathan I always appreciated how you expressed genuine interest in what I had to say whenever we were chatting (even if I was saying something stupid). Your sense of humor, taste in movies, and the inclusive/welcoming atmosphere you projected are sorely missed. It isn't the same without you.
I remember hearing the news that Jonathan was considering moving to Seattle. I had known him from my very start at Stripe and was unbelievably excited. Of course I was on camp "convince Jonathan" and when he made the trek we had many more in person conversations, and many evenings of karaoke in groups. My last message to Jonathan was sharing Final Fantasy fan made rock music to which he responded, "shred!" and followed up with classic Donkey Kong Country soundtracks for my enjoyment as his recommendation. It's also the little moments that really make you remember someone even more so. Jonathan you will be missed.
A few weeks ago, Jonathan shared his Friday 5, a playlist of 5 songs to bring Friday vibes to the Ops Platform team. His curation of post-disco jams and the thoughtful accompanying commentary brought a smile to my face, and inspired me to sign up for the following week to put together a playlist of my own! In Slack, we both laughed at ourselves for how we definitely over-thought this exercise. I'm listening to this now and remembering him with fondness. We miss you Jonathan
Just on Thursday Jonathan lead our team in our ice breaker, and he had us share stories about the first CD / LP / Tape / VHS / DVD / Book you can remember buying or choosing for yourself? He was laughing about how his was an album of Led Zeppelin covers and could still remember all the artists on it. His passion for music was always so present, and it was always a good ice breaker that many could rally around. I didn't know him long, but he made an impression on me!
I was deeply impressed and amazed by Jonathan's passion in teaching and training new folks at Stripe. You probably don't remember me as I'm one of the hundreds of people you've trained, but I'll definitely remember how you've patiently explained concepts and spent extra time offline answering the many questions I've DM'ed you. Thank you very much and you'll be missed by all of us!

I remember when I first joined Stripe having such a hard time with having recently lost my mom. I jumped into a coffee chat with Jonathan, and within minutes his warm and friendly personality made me feel comfortable enough to open up and talk about my current struggle. He shared that he'd lost his mom recently as well, and we spent the next hour and a half talking through things, sharing memories with each other, and finding so many commonalities. It was an experience that I always remember, and one that finally made me feel that someone else understood what I was going through. It was so much more than a coffee chat, and I try to always carry on that spirit whenever I get to meet someone new. Jonathan is, and will be, dearly missed.
