I joined Capsticks a little later in my career but already knew John well through my wife, Katie. From the first John was quick to welcome me to the fold and then for many years I was privileged to work alongside him as an EP and member of Capsticks Board. What shone out from the word go was his integrity, consistency and total lack of personal ego. John just delivered, time and again, and his opinion whilst quietly given was always authoritative and, more often than not, right.
Above all however I remember a lightness of touch capped with real humour, which for all those around him created a sense of calm and made the job what it should be - fun. I could never underestimate his willingness to laugh - usually at other people’s more often than not unfunny jokes!
And finally on a more personal note, when Katie and I and our children moved from London to Farnham, John pointed us in the direction of his old family home which had been sold and developed into three houses. Our whole family carried on a legacy by spending 13 very happy years on that site, which of course we were able to share from time to time with John.
John - to strong values, calm authority, humour and family! Thank you for helping to create so many happy memories. Rest In Peace
