I will remember John as fun and kind person, always enthusiastic about respiratory virus surveillance and epidemiology. This picture is from May 2023 at the door of NIVEL where we had a side meeting during the PROMISE annual meeting. I met John this year also in Milan in the ESCV meeting and we had some fun discussions. Just a couple of days before his death he sent me an email that he will tweet about the new ERVISS.org bulletin. And he did. I still cannot believe that he is not with us any more and I deeply miss him already. His death is a great loss to the global respiratory disease community but foremost to his family. My deepest condolences to his family.
