John was the most gentlemanly gentleman I have ever met. Always rushing to open the door for you, always asking how you were. He always had a pair of sunnies on his head. I remember when I was heavily pregnant last Summer and we were celebrating David Insole's retirement, I was feeling a bit hormonal and flustered in the 30-odd degree heat and slumped myself down on my own in a corner. John noticed and finished his conversation with someone else to come over and check I was OK. What a lovely man he was. He will truly be missed. Sending my deepest sympathies to his family and all those who loved him x
