Jim Gillies

June 25, 1969 - November 13, 2021

Our friend and colleague, Jim Gillies, passed away at home on Saturday the 13th of November after a long battle with cancer. Jim has been part of SLC for over 16 years working in many teams including FE, DSA, BCF and, for the last 6 years, the Assess Platform. Jim has had a huge influence in all the teams he's worked in, but more importantly he has left a positive lasting impression on so many people he worked with. His loss will be felt much more widely than the Assess Platform and he will be missed by many within SLC. Jim is survived by his wife Aileen and daughter Emma and our thoughts go out to them at this time.

What a loss for you all. Jim was a true gentleman who lived for his family. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him and he would always take time to explain and help people. He seemed to thrive on this. Although I left the team in which we worked together several years ago, this news was horrid to hear. I'm sure Jim would comfort anyone in this situation and I hope some comfort comes from all of these messages and memories, of which I am sure there will be many more. Keep helping others wherever you are Jim!!
