This is Jean Drouffe. He had a brilliant mind. He was full of energy and ideas. He had a curious mind. He asked questions fast and he expected answers. He wants nothing but the best. Because if you knew where he was schooled, he is amongst the best.
At Boxing Day last year, I decided to help him so he can help himself with his battle against his illness.
In the end unknowingly for the past 11 months, he inspired me to be at my best. I was not expecting that I would be so motivated by a man battling with an illness.
People asked me why did you come back to AXA? Why are you working so hard and pushing so hard. Well because Jean and I had a pact, and a timeline. We wanted to achieve many things and we knew time was not on our side.
Jean always said I was a strong lady and I always replied well you are stronger than me.
On 10 December I wrote Jean a note to say we did it. We achieved our year’s sales targets way before expected and we will end the business year with a Big Bang. We have never done this before. The kind of note that Jean loves and he would reply “Wouah!” But I had no reply.
On 12 December, Armelle Drouffe texted and we knew Jean was fighting his toughest round. I said if it can lift his spirits she can let him know about us achieving our agreed growth ambition? She shared with him. Jean said “Excellent” with a smile.
This is Jean Drouffe. I only worked with him for 11 months. It was short, stimulating, meaningful and powerful, and it changed my life.
Jean fought an extremely good fight with a very admirable brave front. He showed me the real meaning of not giving up until the end. It would be difficult to be stronger than Jean.
Rest In Peace Jean.
We will celebrate your life so your kids know how colourful and impactful it has been. For you and for all of us.
Thank you for everything. ❤️
